How Low Can You Go.......?

I'm a bit low this weekend...
I'm supposed to be here, fulfilling a wish that has been in my heart for a few years now..... I've gone to this as a punter every year since the first event and this was to be my first one as a re-enactor......
Watching heroes like this..........
Browsing the market stalls and listening to these lovely ladies (Medieval Baebes)........
Living here.........
And watching the twice daily battle of Berkeley Castle, as fought between Lords Berkeley and Talbot.....
But I'm not - because thanks to the horrible, mean, nasty English weather, the castle meadows are under 3" of water and yesterday the local roads looked like this........So I'm home alone.....dreaming of knights and battles, stalls and flagons of ale. It's stopped raining now, but it's so cold here I am sitting in a fleece, with the heating on and a hot cup of coffee........perfect for July!
Update: Checking on the forums, the meadows are now under 3ft of water (and the contents of portaloos!) and there are four days of rain predicted for this coming week. It is unlikely next weekend's Joust will happen either. Joust officials are either looking at cutting their losses this year, finding another local venue or holding it on another date - perhaps I might get to take part after all.......
I just realised I haven't posted a caption photo - so here's a medieval shot from last year's joust......captions, people!

Oh what fun your pictures look! I would love to do that! (After the crazy people I live with leave- that is- my kids)
However, the last picture is terrible! I didn't hear that you were having flooding in UK- US news is so self centered!
Here from Micheles.

Ouch! Michele sent me to share her - and my - disappointment that the event's been washed out. Mother Nature really ought to be nicer to you!

Even so, you wrote about this with such flair. I love your vibe.

I'm a bit on the annoyed side of things when it comes to the weather too. It's not that the event I was going to has been cancelled, it's that the weather has made it impossible to get there. Just where is our summer?

I can nwever think of a perfect July. It is humid and horrendous.

Michele sent me to offer you July summer of Delhi!

Hi CQ -- I didn't realise that they still did these mock jousts --- I last went to one a *long* time ago: probably about 305 years, it seems! The father of a friend of mine used to be a stunt man and was a professional jouster --- we all went to watch him get knocked off his horse with a lance... or perhaps he did the knocking off, I don't recall.

Michele sent me today,
Best,
N.

That picture of the rain in the street yesterday is very sobering...! Good Lord, that is a lot of rain! Is this the most rain of a spring and summer that you ever remember CQ? I cannot get over the amounts of rain you all have had and are STILL Having...
I think that the summer I was there and went to The Cotswolds must have been a very unusual weather period for the UJ...It never rained the whole time, and it was, we were told, unseasobably warm....!
So sorry you are missing your first participting joust, my dear! Keep warm and dry, please!

Wouldn't it be a wonderful invention to figure out how to share the bounty of flooding and extra rainfall? After living in the desert for 10 years, and the fires last June, it would be so welcome to be able to take the brunt of this from areas that have too much. Stay warm and Michele says hi.

You floods have made BIG news over here in Australia, and we feel for you, especially NOT being able to go 'Jousting' this weekend... We hope that it gets better over there, but we hear that there is more on the way!
Are you near Liverpool by chance, as that is where my Aunt is, I might have to drop her an email (although she is in a second story flat)!

Here from Michele's this morning...

Today on my daily photo Blog about the Town of Château-Gontier (France) my subject is about humanism.
It is high time that humanism is with dimensions in Wall Street and on the other stock exchange places in the world.
Come and visit my photo blog.
Make that our indifference does not make us to them next victims.
Relay this fight in your own blog.
In advance thank you for them.

I do hope it will be better weather by September, I am looking forward to a month in the UK then. I hopoe you get to have the reenactment a bit later, it looks like fun (though I wouldn't like to live like that the whole time, would you?)

Apparently some places had the usual rain for the whole of July in just 2 hours!

Now *that's* rain...!

Good gravy! Y'all have been "under the weather" there, haven't you? I"m sorry your plans were ruined :( My cousin has a castle in Nashville, TV, and he has a big Renasissance Festival every May. We went this year and wanted to see the jousting match, but we got there too late :( I was so disappointed...we got to see a bird show instead, but that just wasn't as thrilling to me....you know? ;)
Here from Michele's. Gonna snoop around and get to know you a bit better!! :)

I'm sorry to hear about the flooding there CQ. My mother and father both had problems a few weeks ago when Yorkshire got hit.

Jeff and I saw something a little unusual yesterday when we headed to Cypress Provincial Park in the mountains - a 4ft tall 8 ft wide across chunk of snow still floating on one of the many lakes.

I even managed to get a photo to post on my blog! The world is a crazy crazy place for Weather right now. I guess we all really peeved Mother Nature off huh?

As for captions "Take THAT ya filthy stinkin' scumbag!" *Grins* hopeless I know.
