The Sun has Shone Today.....

.......briefly.........
This is the sky as I drove home........fluffy clouds gathering - rumbles of thunder in the background......
More and darker cloud soon started to build up on the horizon.........
and some more - the cloud was getting very dark and lightning was flashing.......
by the time I was getting close to home, the sky started to look like the gateway to Hades......I think this is the definition of 'a lowering sky'........the cloud is like a huge great weight just hanging over the world.....

Just before the downpour and full storm began, I nipped out and took today's picture of my Oriental Lily, with the rain spattering on my back...........

The flower is finally taking her first little bit of sunshine and starting to spread her petals......

I couldn't resist hopping over from Carmi's blog to see the birth of a storm. I'm glad I did. Great pictures. Please send some rain to Southern California.

It is dark today in my -otherwise- sunny corner, cq. But the rain doesn't come and we really need it. Send it this way, pls!

Love your photos. Thanks for the warm thoughts. Hope all your days are full of blue skies and sun. Michelle thinks so too.

I'm spellbound by these pictures and by the story behind them. So often here in the "wrong" London, we experience dramatic weather like this, so I very much relate to your experience.

I so very much appreciate your capturing it from start to finish and sharing it on your blog. This is a great example of the power of this community-building medium.

Thanks, also, for your oh so kind wishes to me and my wife. We are so thankful to have each other, and to have friends near and far who share in our happiness.
