4am

It's 4am here in the UK and my darling felines woke me at 2.30 this morning [gives cats filthy look].

So - what to talk about at 4am? [listens to silent house]

I have just spent my third week without my mobile phone. It's a grand phone, with camera and video and all sorts but I worked out that, on my contract, I was paying through the nose for a mobile I was hardly ever using - other than texting friends. I'm not a big fan of phones and had been struggling with spam calls from my provider. And, oddly enough, despite one or two moments mostly while on the road, I have not missed it at all. I managed life fine without it before they were invented and I'm sure I'll live without it again. Not having one will sure save me money!
So I'm in no rush to get another account.

Has anyone seen Men in Trees? Is that a cool TV series or what? A 'relationship coach' ends up in, and adapts to life in, Elmo Alaska where the ratio of men to women is ten to one and she realizes she can truly learn about the subject she thought she knew so well -- how to find, and keep, a good man. The real attraction of this series for me is Abe Benrubi. I adore this man! He's big, cute and talented. I can see people going for Anne Heche or James Tupper, but for me it's Abraham all the way! So many series are started and then cancelled, let's hope this is one that runs and runs!

Update: I picked up a book while dawn shopping at the store. The new PJ Tracy book, Snow Blind. I love PJ Tracy, they are fabulous writers! I managed to not read the book for about an hour, then I gave in, turned the TV off and I munched through it in four hours! Excellent book, ladies! (ladies - PJ and Traci, mother and daughter author team), number four and another fantastic investigation!

It's Saturday evening, MB is getting ready to go out with his friend and I am enjoying 'Cocoon'. I have adored Brian Dennehy all my life - anyone got his number?? I think it's something to do with the big manly chest, the gentle voice, the sweet, sweet smile and those sparkling blue eyes....hubba hubba....!

I'm about to try to get some sleep: good luck with getting more, or with being tired out all of the next few day!

Michele sent me,
N.

I have not heard about that programme, what channel is it on?

I am not a Sci- Fi fan but am totally and I mean totally addicted to Heroes..... Have you seen it? It has my mind going in so many directions tying to work stuff out.

Ah, mobile phones! My wife and I each have one, but they are for OUR convenience and emergency use, not for every Tom, Dick and Harry to call us. Very few people have those numbers, I can tell you! B.

I never use the things myself, CQ.

Michele sent me back! I like to wake up early sometimes. To have alone time with myself!

Your provider was sending spamm. how bad's that. Mine doesn't. Sometimes I go a long while between calls. Probably a good call to go without.

Michele sent me.

I came over from Michele's and hope you get more sleep tonight.

As far as I know, Men In Trees is about to start its second season here, so hopefully you'll get it across the pond too.

CQ, Michele sent me to say I think you like BIG MEN!! I love the series Men in Trees, and I look forward to the new episodes of it. It is opposite another series I wanted to watch (Madmen) so I may see Men in Trees on DVD later.

I'm with you on the whole phone thing, cq. I HATE them. I hate talking on them, I hate paying the bills, etc.

I do have a mobile phone for business though. And considering I don't use it all that often (I correspond mainly through email), I use the pay-per-minute program through Virgin Mobile. So far so good. And I'm paying a fraction of what I would be with a regular plan (again, it's great if you don't use your phone very much).

Brian Dennehy - yes, he IS a hunk.

Hope your weekend is going well!

Here via Michele's place.

IMO mobile phones are for emergencies. Wish I could remember to always have it with me. BTW well done for the 11 months and 7 days. Do you have the dream I used to have that you had started smoking again without realising it?
Hope you have better night with those pesky cats. Michele says hi!

maybe the cats were trying to tell you something.

cell phones -- I do like the fact that when some road rage psycho is driving behind me I can hold up my phone and *poof* psycho becomes normal driver again.

Hope the cats didn't wake you up in the middle of the night again :)
I use my mobile phone only to make a few calls, I seldom text (it takes me forever!) but I like to be "reachable", that's why I take it along. Somebody might give my number to George Clooney ... I just hope my phone has batteries at the right moment :)

Hey, cq, we need to party again *wink*.
Thanks so much for your kind comment, sweetie ((hugs))

Naughty kitties! I suspect they wanted their mum to come and play...

I have a pay as you go phone so it costs me very little, or at least as much as I spend.

If you pop over to my blog you will find that I have something for you :)

Someone really ought to buy them an alarm clock :-)

Come to think of it, I think our dog could use one, too: he has an annoying habit of waking me in the middle of the night for a cuddle. I think their sense of timing needs a tweak or two.

I never started smoking because I knew I wouldn't have the courage to quit. That you've successfully done just that is testament to the strength of your spine and your intestinal fortitude. I'm always in awe of folks who can say enough's enough, and then actually make it happen.

Where are my manners today? I dropped by from Michele's on this fine Saturday. I'm zipping through some e-mail interviews today, and needed a little break so that I could find inspiration. Thanks for giving me some!
