Not just humans

Mysterious lumps and bumps are not restricted to humans..........

This is Pandora, our precious ancient pussycat who is the grand age of 18 and a half.

This week we found a large lump by one of her shoulder blades, about 2cm in diameter. We are very, very scared.

I don't want to take her to the vet. Her brother, Pushkin, died of abdominal cancer.
She's very old to go through the stress of treatment, and the vet may decide to take her away from us forever, or whatever is causing the lump may steal her away.

I can't imagine life without 'Pandy'.

Meanwhile, she is ok in herself for an octogenarian pussycat, she isn't showing any signs of pain, she doesn't flinch when I check her lump, she still begs to be carried around, she still tells us she loves us, she chatters at us, she purrs so loudly, she isn't limping, she is eating well, she is still using the litter tray without accidents and she seems very happy.

But a lump is a lump.....

To those that have left messages, thank you :-) Your support is valued beyond words.

Oh, my dear CQ, I know how you must feel and my thought and prayers are with you, Pandora, and your family. Please keep us informed on how she is doing.

BTW, Michele sent me and she would want you to know Pandora is in her thoughts too.

Take her to the vet. It might be as simple as a lipoma, which is nothing. But if it is something, she might need pain medication, and I don't see you as the kind of person who would risk with holding that just because you're afraid of losing her.

At her age, a lipoma is a very real possibility. It's basically a little sac of fat. Heck, even the Spouse Thingy has one...

That is bad news. She looks so sweet in this photo.
Do take her to the vet. It might be something mild. It is better to get it checked.

Wish you a merry christmas and a very happty new year.

You know, Michele sent me here today!

Hon, if Pandy is okay in herself that is a good sign, but I must agree with Thumper. It could be nothing and you need to know what youa re dealing with. Just remember that if the vet suggests something you're not happy with then say 'no' as she is your cat and you are in control.

{big hugs}

Well...I tried to leave a comment and got a strange message from Blogger....OY! Blogger is really a pain these days....Having to fill out the xsame info over and over and then...it won't take the comment....!

What I was saying is: I am glad to know Pandora is fine, except for that pesky lump...! And also, I was remembering last year and how You-Know-Who, kept knocking over the Christmas Tree....lol.....I was wondering if that is happening this year, too...OR, has he been banished from the room with the tree?
Big Hugs to both your dear dears from me and Sweetie....!

CQ: I have a friend who had a similar issue with her older Cat and it was a fat deposit that was dealt with easily. What a beautiful cat you have! 18! I send my thoughts and prayers for positive news!

Oh no! I hope it is just a fatty deposit...

My guess is a lipoma.
Older cats and dogs get them often, and it's just a fatty deposit that isn't harmful to the animal, just worrying to the owner.
But take her to the vet anyway, better to be safe than sorry!
