Well, with encouragement from Our Lady, I was going to introduce you to my family. But as Blogger Photo has died - again! - you will have to put up with one of my more notorious memories.
About twenty years ago I was a young clerk in the Civil Service working with the RAF just outside Gloucester. One of our regular social events was to play skittles (like bowling, but less pins and a smaller ball!). I was recovering from the recent bitter separation from my former husband and all the lads had an agreement that I would be watched carefully to make sure he didn't turn up and hassle me.
While walking to the bar to get the drinks in, I was approached by this rather dubious looking individual who tried to ask me out. He offered to buy me a drink (refused) and asked if I wanted to go out with him (also refused!). He wasn't getting the 'No', and suddenly several large RAF officer types materialised at my side and politely told the man to leave me alone, I was with them.
At the sight of all these very manly men, the ugly dwarfish man retreated mouthing abuse. We all laughed over the incident for weeks, and my reputation as a bit of a man-magnet began. Mind you, I never forgot that man's face, nor his insistent manner, he totally creeped me out.
Well, imagine my horror in 1994 when I saw his face again, on the front page of every paper in the country (and probably the world!).
The man wanting to date me was Fred West, mass murderer. He used to pick up girls, take them home to his wife, do unspeakable things to them, kill them and bury them in the cellar/garden!
Not only that, but he only lived around the corner from me, and I used to walk past his house most days.
[chuckle] and people wonder why I don't trust men.......

What an awful scare. So glad you had friends to stand by you.
My MM is up.
WWWWOOOOAAAHHH! That is one of the scariest stories CQ! It is frightening to think that almost in the blink of an eye, one's life can change if you make the wrong decision..(Knowlingly or unknowingly..) or not even make a decision but just fall into a situation...! Really really scary...
What do you think it is, by the way, with Blogger and pictures???? I've been having some trouble myself, but not like what you describe...It is really distressing when this happens...NOT as distressing as the FRED guy....OY VEY! Thankg God those RAF fellows came along, my dear...
YIKES!!! Now that's is one time when you have to say, than heaven for friends!! Angels in diguise! What a scary story...so glad you refused that drink!
I'm with Rosie....your RAF friends were angels on that day. Praise the Lord he didn't try again! Wow, what a creepy story.
Oh my god, that's horrendous!! Thank god for the lads you were with.

b) I always used to have trouble with Blogger photo, so I got a flickr.com account, and I LOVE it. More than life. So easy, I never have problems uploading, and it's fun to post pictures there that never actually make it to my blog.
