This ol' Queen has feet of clay after all. My elation and, truth to say, pleasure in managing to run short distances this weekend has been short-lived.
There does indeed appear to still be something wrong with my back. The short bursts of jogging I did over the weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) have resulted in much back pain. The pain is centred on the base of my spine (injured when I fell on the skiing trip last year) and when particularly bad it spreads across the pelvis and up the spine.
I am now on painkillers and have been off work for a couple of days, waiting for the aggravation to recede.
It's getting better now, but I won't be running the Race for Life at this rate - my back is just too fragile.
So it's back to walking.....
I feel such a cripple, but my back has taken quite a beating over the last 40 years, often landing me in hospital, from road accidents to slips and falls. They say 'you only have one back' - how true that is!

So you won't be breaking any records then?! :-) It's not the Olympics so don't beat yourself up about it. Just rest, afterall walking raises just as much money as running!
I hope your back gets better soon [hugs] (but not squeezing too tightly 'cause of your back!).
oh no! but we'll have a jog-a-thon for you and raise all kinds of money and we'll cure you in no time!
Sorry to hear that about the race and your back. I know you wanted to run in it.
Ouch ... but run / walk at least you're doing your bit!
So sorry you are going through this, my dear...I wondered when you said you were jogging a bit, how that would sit with your dear back...! I hope you will heal very soon and walking in that 'Run' is a big committment, too! That you want to do it at all, is admirable...but don't put your back through hell, please dear CQ...Pamper, Pamper, Pamper...
((((HUGS)))))
i may have something for your sore back- i am testing it out this week on my dear mum, will advise if it relieves her pain, and then I will order you some. we need you strong and walking tall!
Hail the golden voiced CQ!
