2008 Re-Enactment Season

My life has changed rather radically in the last week......

I went to the Company of Chivalry January Focus Meeting; usually a time for us all to dust off friendships after the winter, catch up on all the gossip, pay our membership dues, plan the year ahead etc.

Only this time there was a bit of a shock to the Company. Our beloved Vintner (seen here in his usual place in the kitchen)

chief cook, bottle washer, membership officer, publicity officer, mainstay, friend to all, rock of the company, and all round good egg, has taken a hiatus from re-enactment due to pressures of modern work. Which means the many, many jobs he fills for the company had to be filled with willing volunteers.

Please meet the new Membership Officer for the Company - Mistress cq!

[whisper] I'm the one sitting down!

Yeah, I volunteered. Stuck me old hand up and gosh-darned volunteered!
Hand in hand with Membership Officer comes a position in the Company Council! So I'm now a Yeoman (in the employ of our Lord Hungerford), Membership Officer and Council Member.
Btw - I am the first woman Council Member in the 19yr history of the Company!

Gonna be a challenging year for me!

So - are you one of Nature's volunteers?

Good for you, cq!! Michele sent me today; have I told you about our friends who are such serious reenactors that they built a castle for a home? It is SO cool, I can't tell you.

While I don't do this stuff myself, I hold those of you who do in extremely high esteem.

Michele, who has awesome powers, has sent me to respond. No, caspar is not one of Nature's volunteers...or at least he thinks not.

Nature was looking for volunteers? Yes,naturally.

Ooooh Cq!! That's awesome news! I'm sooo happy for you.

I remember when you first started out with the re enactment stuff and you weren't sure that you were going to do it after the first year - well, just look at you now!

Well done hon.

I didn't need Michelle to send me! Congratulations on your esteemed new position. In your position as Membership Officer, should you be in need of a jester and would-be alchemist who was once fairly handy with a sword (but is woefully out of practice), let me know!

Congratulations CQ - I think:)
In recent years I have lost the taste for volunteering - having done lots in the past and value my time now it takes me twice as long to get anything done. But the kitchen curtains will be hung this morning if it's the last thing I do!

i too volunteer, and Lord only knows how I am doing what I can with a tough situation, but He gives strength and I seem to need to be needed.
we congratulate you on your ascendancy.
at least you can make money, that will be useful!

I volunteered to be the membership chair in my quilt guild many years ago. I actually liked the job and got to know a lot of the members. Now I've been out of the position for a couple years so I, once again, don't know who everyone is anymore.

Have a good time! I did.

Michele sent me.

When I came back into the Wow guild about 4 months ago, I swore I'd not get involved in the running of things. Somehow, I managed to get dragged back into it though. (Think my current escape bid might be working!)

Avoid responsibility at all costs !
