Part 3 - Truth or Dare

OK, I’ve spoken to Clara and Walt…..and I think they are both lying to me – so it’s put up or shut up time at the Palace.

[both staff troop in looking worried]

OK, you two. I know you have both lied to me. Clara – you lied about being pregnant and Walt – you lied about knowing.

So how about a little truth here? Let’s start with you, Clara…..

Yes mum. Well, when I found out I was pregnant I was scared I would lose my job. You wouldn’t want a bulgy maid. But I had to tell someone, so I told Walt – and made him promise to keep my secret.

Why did you make cyberkitten think he was the father?

I was worried I would not be able to raise a baby – and he seemed a nice man.

So, now it’s time to be honest……. Who IS the father??

Alright. Do you know... the muffin man?

The muffin man?

The muffin man.

Yes, I know the muffin man. Who lives on Drury Lane?

It’s the muffin man...

The muffin man?!

THE MUFFIN MAN!

But – he’s married…….

Yes mum. I know. I was stupid, but he told me his wife didn’t love him any more…..

Well, now that’s out in the open – Walt, why did you lie to me about knowing?

Ma’am, the poor girl was distraught, she needed a trusted confidante. Once the shock had worn off I intended to come and speak to you.

About the pregnancy?

No – about my plans to marry Clara.

[silence]

so - now the truth is out and everyone knows where they stand, I have to think what to do next.......... What do you think I should do?

Let me esplain, no, is too much, let me sum up; Clara got herself knocked up by the married Muffin Man and Walt wants to wed Clara? Holy Cripes! Maybe sending them to Naomi's wasn't such a hot plan. Is that where Walt fell for Clara?

Sorry I had to delete there was an error.
This is just too much, I think there was too much love around Naomi's place that it had Walt and Clara carried away. (Lol)

We-ell, I shall be the the voice of modern reason here then:-)

What should you do? Be a generous employer & give them a nice wedding present & generous maternity/paternity leave!

I'm sure you could spare the palace ballroom for the reception, and maybe Blair & Melinda would like to return the favour & come over to Blighty for the party?

As for who the father is, it really doesn't matter does it?

:-)

Well, I think it is wonderful that Walt wants to marry Clara...! What an upstanding thing for him to do. I could perform the ceremony, CQ! I think you should encourage their marriage; Give them your blessings and there will then be a little baby at the Palace! Oh, I love it! (Ever the romantic, I know...but it is a lovely finish to this distressing mystery, isn't it?)

Let's celebrate a wedding first and then worry about the rest...(that's why my mom stopped having house personnel and we would watch soap operas instead, lol!
