Audience Participation Week

It's Audience Participation Week here at the palace! Wordless Wednesday will return next week........

OK, so someone in my office has been incredibly quick off the mark and asked me the $6M question - what am I doing for my leaving do?

Other than bowling or a meal, I have no idea.......that's where the audience participation comes in....

I need ideas! Come on all you Party Hearty Bloggers........I need ideas!

Update: in the true tradition of the office leaving do, each person normally pays their own way. It is normally not held in an individual's home, and usually involves lots of alcohol. Oh, and there will be about 50 people.......!

Our office have had, recently; pub crawls, sports afternoon on the local common with picnic, golfing afternoon and the next one scheduled is an evening at a comedy club. I threatened to take them horseback riding!!

I have since been asked by another colleague about the 'do' and she sounded quite keen about tenpin bowling (still reasonably new here in England).

I have also submitted this as a Question from a Blogger to Michele (her of the lovely legs).

This post will remain at the top for a couple of days while you all think of fun things for my leaving party. Read on down for new posts.

Um, I thought leaving parties involved drinking heavily, snogging the office geek, telling your boss exactly what you think of them, then passing out in some strangers front room, before waking up in the morning to realise that these people all live in the same street as you and will see ou every day of the rest of your life.

Oh, was that just me?

Leaving Party are sometimes sad because you leave your co-workers behind especially those who have been close to you for so many years you have been with them.
Back here in our country we call it a "Despidida Party". Don't have any suggestion yet as of this moment. Since you'll be leaving your post at the top for a couple of days, I'll get back to you when something pops up.

One of my favorite co-worker leaving parties I've ever been to was at a martini bar - and everyone came for at least a drink or two, the people who were close to the coworker who was leaving stayed for a long time and then went to dinner - in fact, a lot of little groups formed and went out to dinner.... or stayed at the bar and got sloshed.

It was fun, especially, because it was a bright, open bar, and, at least in St. Louis, when you go to a bar at 4pm, it's pretty empty...

theres that silly thing where you all stick postit notes on each other's backs with the name of a famous person (catwoman, david beckham, george bush, mickey mouse) and then everyone has to guess who they are by asking yes no questions from others (am I real?, am I an animal etc).

Works well with cocktails.

Hmmmm. This is a tough one CQ...Who is actually giving the party...I mean...Are you giving yourself a going away doo? Or, is the office footing the bill? Or is everyone chipping in. or what?So...do you know where it will be? In the office; at a restaurant-pub-bar; at your home; All these things will make a difference as to what you might or might not want to do at this "Bye Bye Party"...I realize all I have done is ask questions and given no answers...(LOL). But, that's the way I am....
Seriously...maybe after I know all these details I can make some informed suggestions...and then again, maybe not....! (lol)
But I am sure willing to give it a try!

Avoid wine :-)

Karaoke is all a stand-by (and a concept I loathe...)

Having a meal is always nice and social and can 'morph' into other things (like late night drinking & dancing).

Go to a casino (don't take cash cards people its far too dangerous)

Ice skating?

Ok I think you should have Cliff Richard jump out of a cake and sing Congratulations followed by karoke with the Wombles.
Then Gordan Ramsey can cater a lovely 6 course meal but of course you will only get to the third course because you will all piss him off and he will leave while giving you all the bird.
At the end you can give out goodie bags from Harrods worth six thousand pounds each and then air kiss everyone and drive off into the sunset.

I knew Miss Wings would exactly know how to throw a party.

..... so everyone nicked the good ideas ~ bowling, a fab curry, live music (got to be a live music night nearby?!?), cocktails, handbag dancing?

How about sushi (without the fish of course)? Or .... a Greek plate smashing fest?

I always avoid Kareoke as by the end of the 2nd bottle of pinot grigio/white zinfandel/shiraz et I always think I can truly sing!! Have a fabbo time wherever you party :o)
