The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.....

The Good...

Steve Irwin died today aged only 44.

Famed nature writer and broadcaster David Bellamy said today the field had lost one of its greats with the death of Steve Irwin.
Bellamy, who has written dozens of books and presented many documentaries on nature, said Mr Irwin was “one of the greatest performers, and also an extremely good natural historian”.
“It's a very, very sad day for natural history and natural history television,” Bellamy said on the BBC.
“I could break down crying at this moment but I will try not to.
“He did take enormous risks but he knew what he was doing.
“It was one of the terrible, terrible, terrible accidents and I wish to God it didn't happen.”
Bellamy said Mr Irwin's showmanship made him famous, but should not diminish the quality of his work.
“He not only captivated Australia and all the visitors there, but he captivated America because he was audacious,” Bellamy said.
“He knew his stuff but he didn't write scripts and got on with the job.
“The world has lost one of the great natural historians and I am very, very sad about it.”
Mr Irwin was also popular in Britain, with news of his death topping bulletins on daytime television news.

The Bad...

My new laptop is here, and it is 'Bad'!!

All I need now is wi-fi and I'm ready to rock and roll! It even has a DVD player [big grin]. Thanks to MB who made it possible.

The Ugly...

A comment posted on my 2996 post on All*Blog*Stars:

"I find it distasteful that this man is promoting himself using 9/11."

I'm sorry - who is distasteful? Dale for committing time and love to this project, or the commenter for even thinking this, let alone saying it? Nuff said.

More Ugly........

Ugly Monster is in full residence at the moment, and I am back on a high dose of Prozac. Prozac is an appetite suppressant (they use it in extremely high doses for bulimia) and I agree - I don't want to eat. But (and this is the kicker) I still have an appetite and still feel hungry....I just don't *want* to eat. Not complaining, the binging is down to almost zero and I am starting to lose weight. Also I am more positive about things and I have stopped cursing my neighbour :-)

It is such a shame about Steve Urwin.... he will be much missed.

Lucky you with the Laptop! Want one want one want one.

Finally prozac is a wierd drug it affects people so differently. I took paroxatene/seroxat for years and I think it is one of the "withdrawn" drugs!!! I wonder what it did to me!!

Look after yourself e-mail me if you want to chat

i have friends on Prozac who have claimed it has helped them enormously. I know so little about it. But I'm glad you are a step ahead of me with the PC. Mine is back in Ohio repaired with a new drive and Procesor. I've decided to go broadband and join the human race! Dial Up was a pain. Regarding your first item: he took too many chances.

i hope the prozac's working for you. it tends to make me hyperactive so not only do i not eat but i burn off zillions of calories zooming around achieving nothing!

That idiot who dissed you and the 2996 project is just plain stupid and downright selfish. Ignore him! As for your prozak - whatever works, right? We always say, "better living through chemicals - medicine, bug spray, petroleum producs. It's all good." Enjoy your new machine!!!
The Steve Irwin thing is sooo sad.

Beautiful new Lappy my dear! I'm so happy for you! Hooray!

What???? I have to go over there and read that!!! That is soooo ridiculous..This 2,996 project is 'genius'! Such a special wonderful way to honor each of these people and it makes it so very personal in a way for each of us doing the project! Deliver me from A**holes!

So sorry about the UM, my dear...just get that Prozac working..but please don't give up swearing..It is such a satisfying happy thing to do! I believe it puts years back in your life! Look a me! Been swearing since I was a child! (lol)

Seriously my dear pal, hope the Prozac works real real good for you!

Can't believe someone called Dale "distasteful" for doing 2996... I think it's great. (here via the 2996 participant list btw)
